Getting started on commissioning a custom pet portrait from Catherine Garneau

1. Send Your Best Photos

Please choose from your very best photos of the animals or pet(s) you would like to have painted or drawn from. I traditionally rely on one photo for the main pose, however I do prefer to have several photos to work from in order to capture the unique personality of the subjects I paint or draw onto canvas. Therefore, please send me photos which are high in resolution, clear, and taken under adequate lighting conditions. To learn how to take great photos of your animal companion, Dogster.com provides 10 Great Tips for Photographing Your Pet.

2. Choose Art Medium

My pet portraits are either hand-painted in oil on your choice of thin or gallery wrap edge quality linen canvas, or drawn in your choice of graphite, pastel, or colored pencil on high quality archival paper.

3. Deposit Payment

A $50 deposit is required before I begin custom portraits in oil, acrylic & pastel. For graphite and colored pencil drawings, a $25 deposit is required. All deposits, which are used to pay for materials, are non-refundable should you decide to cancel your order for any reason. However, I do offer a complete money back guarantee if you are not fully satisfied with your completed portrait. If you require any assistance with your payments, do not hesitate to Email Wild at Art at any time. If you are ordering a pet portrait as a gift for someone else, you also have the option of purchasing one of my Pet Portrait Gift Certificates which your gift recipient will truly appreciate

4. Previewing Your Portrait

It is traditionally my practice to post current fine art projects to my Wild at Art Facebook Page so that my clients and viewers can provide public feedback. This has been a very successful action because objective feedback can prove beneficial to both myself and my clients, and is the perfect way to keep you updated about the progress of your portrait at all times. However, if you prefer that your portrait not have this type of public exposure for any reason (e.g., your portrait my be a secret gift for someone), then specify this when ordering and I will email you privately with an image of your portrait for approval.

4. Balance Payment, Shipping Costs and Portrait Delivery

The balance is paid by personal check, or by using PayPal, once the portrait is completed and approved by you.

Shipping costs depend on the canvas type and size, as well as the location the artwork is shipping to and are added to the balance owed upon completion of your order. For graphite and colored pencil portraits up to 11” x 17”, an additional $20 S&H fee will be added to your order. For stretched linen canvases, an additional S&H fee ranging between $30 and $85 per canvas will be added to your order depending on the size of each canvas. For orders shipped outside the Continental U.S., please Email me for an estimate. All paintings are carefully packaged to prevent any damage during shipment. Graphite and colored pencil portraits are shipped in durable cylindrical tubes. Once your portrait is shipped, I will provide you with a shipping tracking number to keep tabs on the status of your shipment and delivery.
